Tiny Hooligans

Felix and Cosmo aren't usually much for televised sports, but Sunday night they were content to climb around on me while I watched the Glasgow Rangers-Celtic match.

Cosmo: I like this game! I like this game!

And when the Rangers goalkeeper stopped a weak shot by Celtic, they both started shouting "Twinkletoes! Twinkletoes!" Which is something the Bad Train says on Thomas the Tank Engine, but pretty apropos, really.

Girl Crazy!

Anatomy and architecture.

Felix: Last night I just hopped up in bed and I hit my head and some of the ceiling squeezed into my head.

Help with computers. (While I was puzzling over formatting or something.)

F: Daddy, if you want to print you have to click the button that says "print."

At Grandma and Grandpa's house, singing, by request, "Holy Ground" (and probably getting the words wrong).

K: (singing) Fare thee well, my lovely Dinah
And a thousand times adieu
For we're going away from the holy ground
And the girls we all love true
F: (interrupting) Daddy, the girls I love so true are Paula and Roshni.

Home at last.

Keir: Well, Felix, it's been a nice vacation and we had a lot of fun, but it's nice to be home, too, isn't it? Did you miss your friends?
Felix: Yes, I missed Paula. And Paula missed me. I think she's awfully sweet on me.
K: Well, you'll see Paula tomorrow. Roshni, too.
F: Yeah, I really love those girls.

Was I Bawling? Yes

One recent morning at breakfast.

Felix: Daddy, I am just so sad that Grandma McCulloch passed away. She was 92 years old and she passed away and then she died and that was when her body stopped working. She didn't feel very good and she just wanted to die.

I'm still sniffling a little, actually.

Daylight Savings Time

Felix was very put out a few weeks ago when I walked around the apartment changing clocks to Daylight Savings Time: "Mommy, don't do that!"

It's come up several times since then; the other day his concern was quite clear:
"I do NOT like Daylight Savings Time. This just has to stop!"

See? This One Is Sideways

OK, I just researched this issue and apparently it's a known bug with Macs and Blogger. So glad I switched! I guess we'll have to upload photos from work. Don't tell our bosses.

Cosmo in Chinatown

We're way behind on photos, partly because we switched computers, partly because our new #@%$&*!! Mac turns the vertical photos sideways. Well, the Mac doesn't, but when we upload from the Mac to Blogger, it happens. And we never have time to research the problem. But here's a nice landscape-oriented picture of Cosmo in Chinatown a couple of weekends ago so you don't have to turn your head or monitor sideways to see it.

All the News That's Printed, Fits

Felix turns to the weather first thing--Cosmo is more of a front-page-news kind of guy.

Born With a Tail

Felix can be awfully choosy about music, especially when it's my music. Sometimes he starts crying and kicking the floor merely because I've turned the amplifier on. But sometimes he surprises me. Yesterday, when I was listening to an old compilation made for me by a friend, Felix became intrigued by one song in particular ("Born with a Tail," The Supersuckers). He's been talking a lot about a "bad train" in a Thomas the Tank Engine episode, and he claimed he could hear the voice of the "bad train" in the song.

Early consternation turned to delight, which turned to...a desire to listen to the song over and over and over again. (Let's say 20-30 times.) Watching Felix and Cosmo pogo to the newly renamed "Bad Train Song" is, however, delightful enough to outweigh any irritation at the repetition.

I just hope he gets tired of it before he figures out what the words are.
